On Sunday 1st October, thanks to Simon & Lorraine Rutter kindly donating the use of their wedding marquee as a venue, an event was held to raise funds for both North West Air Ambulance and Cheshire Agricultural Chaplaincy.
It was decided to book John Archer (Christan comedian and magician), and call it “An evening with John Archer” we set ourselves a target of 300 tickets to sell, which initally felt very daunting. But, once we published the event the tickets sold like hot cakes and within two weeks of advertising the event we had sold out and had people on a waiting list.
Lovely food was served up by Rachael Gates, and a charity auction was held, with Simon Lamb of Wright Marshall very kindly giving his time up to auction the items, which included Box at the races, A Day’s Clay pigeon Shooting, Use of Tractor for a week, Paintball Voucher plus very many more all generously donated by local businesses, the auction raised £4,780.00, a game of heads & tails, and sale of raffle tickets were also used to add money to the coinfers.
John Archer was hugely entertaining. His act combined humour and magic that everyone at the event enjoyed immensely, so much so we are already being asked when is the next event.
Once all costs were accounted for the total raised was £6,600 which has been split equally between North West Air Ambulance and Cheshire Agricultural Chaplaincy.
Thank you to everyone who supported the event !!
