Mark - volunteer

Mark grew up on the family dairy farm in North Dorset before running away at eighteen to walk overland through Africa. By way of recovery he then went and drank beer at Harper Adams for four years. Afterwards, sheep farming and then veg growing in Portugal and Isle of Wight led to trading fresh produce to UK supermarkets back in Ely, Cambs. He found corporate agribusiness too stressful so in ‘03 he retrained as a yacht captain and, with his partner Lynn, has been running a 22 metre sailboat called Pacific Wave in the Caribbean, chartering to mostly American guests. He’s now back in Lach Dennis of all places, writing a sequel to his debut novel, a spy thriller set in Africa in the 1980s and based on his own adventures. He has two kids from a previous marriage, both grown up; Katie married to a Hampshire beef and arable farmer, and Will doing IT stuff in Manchester.
