June - volunteer family support worker

Hello my name is June Willis I was born in 1959 at my parents’ dairy farm, Golden Nook Farm Hargrave Chester. I grew up on the farm with my brother and three sisters.
In my younger years I went to Waverton School and the Holy Family Convent school in Wrexham until it closed in 1972 and then went on to Christleton school until I was 16.
I went on to study a Pre Nursing Course at the Chester College of Further Education in Handbridge before going on to train as a nurse.
As I didn’t settle at this I turned my attention to looking after children and whilst looking after children I studied to become a Nursery Nurse and qualified in 1979.
In 2017 I felt a calling to become a Pastoral Worker in my parish and after doing a three year course I was licensed in Chester Cathedral in 2019 by The Right Reverend Bishop of Birkenhead Keith Sinclair.
At present I work two days a week for my youngest sister as a Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant.
Before Covid 19 I was helping in a Voluntary role as a Creche Volunteer at St John’s Wesley Methodist Church in Chester where I enjoyed getting alongside the children and playing with them.
In my spare time I like to knit, crochet, jigsaw puzzles and to do word puzzles. I also enjoy gardening.
I am looking forward to supporting farming families in my new role as a family support worker.
